  फार जुनी परंपरा असलेली दोन साहित्य संमेलने यंदा २०२६च्या आरंभालाच लागोपाठ होणार आहेत. मराठी साहित्य संमेलन साताऱ्यात तर त्या पाठोपाठ शंभर वर्षांची परंपरा असलेले मराठी ख्रिस्ती साहित्य संमेलन नाशिकला सायमन मार्टिन यांच्या अध्यक्षतेखाली होणार आहे. विशेष म्हणजे एक शतकापूर्वी नाशिकलाच पहिले ख्रिस्ती साहित्य संमेलन भरले होते. मराठी साहित्य संमेलनांपासून वेगळे अस्तित्व मांडणारी ही पहिली भुमिका होती. पहिले मराठी ख्रिस्ती साहित्य संमेलन १८ आणि १९ एप्रिल १९२७ रोजी नाशिकमध्ये शरणपुरातल्या चर्च मिशनरी सोसायटीच्या मराठी शाळेत येथे पार पडले. आणि या संमेलनाचे अध्यक्ष होते `पुण्यनगरीचे मुनी' निकल मॅक्निकल. रेव्हरंड डॉ. निकल मॅक्निकल हे चर्च ऑफ स्कॉटलंडचे मिशनरी होते. डॉ. अनुपमा निरंजन उजगरे यांनी आपल्या `मराठी ख्रिस्ती वाङमयाचा इतिहास १८१०-१९२७ ‘’ या संपादित पुस्तकात लिहिले आहे कि मराठी आणि संस्कृत या भारतीय भाषांचा निकल मॅक्निकल यांचा दांडगा व्यासंग होता. महाराष्ट्रीय संत ज्ञानेश्वर, तुकाराम, रामदास, एकनाथ त्यांच्या व्याख्यानांचे विषय होते. मॅक्निकल यांचे वास्तव्य पुण्यात असल्याने त्यांन...

A witness to the Emergency rule (1975-77) That morning, soon after I had arrived at our tailoring shop in Shrirampur, the cycle riding newspaper boy had delivered the newspaper. I was a 10th standard student then but was addicted to newspaper reading. The news content of the newspaper on that day startled me and immediately I pointed it out to my father.
