Pimpri: A PMPML bus broke down on the newly launched Dapodi-Nigdi BRTS route at Morwadi, Pimpri on Monday afternoon, bringing to halt other PMPML buses and many four-wheelers and two-wheelers, which had also entered the dedicated lane for PMPML buses.
The PMPML bus on the Hadapsar-Nigdi route (MH 12 HB 1440) broke down at Ahilyadevi Holkar Chowk just before the traffic signal at 4.30 pm. The grounding of the bus stranded a large number of other PMPML buses and some cars and two-wheelers, which had also entered the lane.
The passengers of the bus alighted but they could not board other buses immediately due to the traffic jam. The bus was later moved from the BRTS route and the normal traffic was restored.
The Dapodi-Nigdi BRTS route was launched by Mayor Rahul Jadhav on Friday, August 24. However many private vehicles have been entering the dedicated BRTS lane and no action is taken against them.
PMPML Transport General Manager Vilas Bandal said that a probe will be conducted into the breaking down of the bus on the BRTS route and action will be taken against those found responsible.
